Mrs. Leila Amos Pendleton (1860- 1938) was a teacher in the public schools of Washington, D. C.. In 1898 she founded the Alpha Charity Club of Anacostia, and was its president for thirteen years. She was also the founder and president of the Social Purity Club of Washington, vice-president for the District of Columbia of the Northeastern Federation of Women's Clubs, secretary of the National Association of Assemblies of the order of the Golden Circle, and an auxiliary to the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S. J., U. S. A.
