Abbie Cardwell
Abbie draws inspiration from life and the roots of all music. She soaks up her favourite moments of rock, folk, country, soul and blues to create what she nicknames as "Rootsy Toons". She's one helluva banjo pickn, harmonica totin', guitar slingn, honey voiced chick that delivers her own mix of rootsy-toons with a punch....and a kiss goodnight!!!! Her music journeys fluidly from rock filled ballads to subtle lullabies so dont even bother trying to box her into any particular style cos.....well, ...that would be just BORING! Abbie has a string of National & International accolades to her name; including winning Triple J Unearthed and the BMI, USA Songwriting Competion held in Kauaii, Hawaii in 2004.
Abbie performs solo, duo or with a full band...depending on the occasion, depending on who's available! But usually she plays with Jeb Cardwell ( her kick-ass-slide-guitar playin bro from Animal Johnson) and the legendary Ashley Davies on drums.Singer Songwriter Guitarist and Triple J Unearthed winner Abbie Cardwell is a "class act" who is "dedicated to making the audience believe every pulse of her emotion". Abbie captivates her audience, whether solo, in a duet combo with brother Jeb (on slide/acoustic guitars), or with a full band.
Abbie's music is a blend of her influences. Taking her favourite moments from soul, jazz, country, folk, blues, and rock (practically most music in it's natural state) and has created her own style. This is why she nick-names her music 'Rootsy-Toons'.
Having won the prestigous BMI songwriting competition held in Hawaii , abbie has since been enjoying introducing her music to the USA.

"Abbie evokes the same kind of magic as the best of today's singers (neatly side-stepping the yawn-worthy chops displays and cliché's of modern R&B-lite-isms and yet standing tall right along side them"
