Kitaro Release Date: 10 February 2012 Format: DVD Region 1, 80 minutes ISBN: 0787364814794
A DVD release of one of Kitaro's most well known performances!
Recorded during Kitaro's support tour for Mandala in 1994. Features his score for Oliver Stone's Vietnam epic Heaven & Earth. Also features some of Kitaro's most well known works.
AN ENCHANTED EVENING offers 80 minutes of pure, unadulterated Kitaro majesty. Recorded during a live performance that originally took place in the wake of his album MANDALA, viewers are granted an audience with Kitaro and a chance to see him in his element. Be it perched in front of a keyboard, entranced as his fingers glide over the keys or energetically hurling his arms against a giant Japanese taiko drum, Kitaro is a dynamic presence who creates his own little symphonies of Asian instruments, swooping synthesizers and bold rhythms.
Given that the concert was recording during the MANDALA release frame, many of the songs featured come from that album, like "Kokoro," "Planet" and "Dance of Sarasvati," which possess a heavier emphasis on guitar than some of his later works (the epic nature of the electric guitar does provide a nice complement to the grand synthscapes). Among the artists providing backup to Kitaro is Nawang Khechog, performing on bansuri flute and percussion. Running time: 80 minutes
