Jasmine Jan was born in Darwin and has held a life-long love and fascination of nature. Working from her studio at Lambells Lagoon she is surrounded by 105 acres of pristine bushland. Her studio overlooks a paperbark billabong and it is from this nature- lovers retreat that she gains inspiration.

Working as a zookeeper for over 12 years at the Territory Wildlife Park she has enjoyed the unique opportunity to care for many of the birds that feature in her watercolour paintings. Years spent observing these birds has given her an intimate knowledge and understanding of the behaviour and character of the various birds featured in this book.

Her paintings have been exhibited locally, interstate and internationally and have been acquired by both art and bird lovers. Being the successful recipient of a number of awards and scholarships has enabled her to train with master wildlife artists and illustrators in the USA and Australia. Besides watercolour, Jasmine also works with coloured and graphite pencil, pen & ink, chalk pastel and printmaking. This is Jasmine?s first book.
