The dowager Grand Duchess of Mecklenburp- Schwerin, a danghter of King Frederic William III. of Prussia; born 1803. t Marie Alexandrowna, born 1824, danghter of the late Grand Duke Louis II. of Hesse, and married to the Emperor since 1841. Theu followed the Emperor's four sons; the two oldest in the uniform of the Chevalier Guards, the thirdt in infantry uniform, and the youngest): in the blne marine blouse. Prince Peter of Oldenburg, with his two sons, and the Grand Duchess Michael-Nicholas, followed. They all stood during the whole mass, which lasted over an hour? even the aged Grand Duchess. Only the reigning Empress seated herself occasionally. The chapel is white and richly gilt. lu all Greek churches the sanctuary and the altar are separated from the main space by the ikmstase (the image screen). This screen has three doors, the centre one being called the Emperor's door, becanse only the Czar can go through it.
