This biography of Lennie Lower, Australia's comic writer, describes his life as a journalist and writer by another journalist who briefly worked with him as a copy-boy. Hornadge dispels some myths about Lower (including the place of his birth), and relates the many escapades of his Larrikin spirit, as well as his bouts of depression. One of the entertaining incidents described is when Lower was sacked by Sir Frank Packer for allegedly insulting Noel Coward. Hornadge captures the feel what it was like to be a journalist in the 1930s and 40s in Sydney, with a similar pace and style to Lower. Bill Hornadge is the author of "The Australian Slanguage", "The Yellow Peril", "The Ugly Australian" and "How to Publish Your Own Book".
