My dear Head, -- I am sorry that I did not at once send you my copy of ' Buttman, ' as it would have saved you much trouble; but I have carefully looked over your article, and found nothing to correct except clerical errors. There are, however, several points on which I still entertain considerable doubt; so much so, that if you think that you are not likely to write an articlef iu the spring number, I would ask you to keep it back for a time, that I might have an opportunity of looking into some of the points with you; for to discuss it on paper would be endless. I am going out of London for a short distance on Saturday, the 24th; on the following Monday I shall be at Worcester for the sessions; and shall probably pass through Oxford on my return to London about the 7th or 8th. It would be time then to send your article to the press, if there was no delay, as Hare writes me word that he has matter for 160 pages at Cambridge, which is the reason why I have not sent your article to him. Till I hear from you, I will do nothing; but if a letter does not arrive by the 24th, I will leave the parcel under sailing orders, so that it may be despatched whenever I write.
