In analysing sentences of this kind, first specify the grammatical subject, and state whether it is simple or compound ( 47). Next set down (or indicate in some way) the words or phrases which form attributive adjuncts to the subject. Proceed then to specify the grammatical predicate. If it is a transitive verb, set down its object or objects ( 56), and specify the attributive adjuncts of the latter. Lastly, set down the adverbial adjuncts of the predicate.
