Windseeker flows with the amazing sound of the Native American Indian flute, also known as the Prayer Flute, or Woodland Flute. The album features evocative, haunting solo flute tracks, then moves into subtle rhythms. Windseeker creates a very "still" atmosphere..... like a Zen garden with trickling water and wind chimes.......or a majestic canyon, where the flute echoing across the mountains is an eagle gliding in the dawn's light.
I sincerely feel that this is the most peaceful, calming album I've ever recorded. If you practice Yoga or Tai Chi, I think it would also suit perfectly. As an album for starting the day, or even to go to sleep with, I think Windseeker is ideal.
The Native American Indian flute has the most hypnotic, evocative quality. When I play them, it's nearly as if the wood in the flute has its own song to sing, and I'm simply observing. I play my flutes every day, as a morning "balancing"......and it leaves me with such a sense of peace. The effect is just as strong when you hear them being played.
I set out last year to record a CD featuring just the flute, nothing else, in an attempt to capture that feeling - so that others could enjoy it. The recording sessions became more like meditations. I'd enter the studio early in the morning, hit the record button, close my eyes and play for about 30 minutes, lost in my own world. Honestly, I didn't even know whether I had captured anything good or not until I played it back later!
Months later I had produced what I feel is one of the most calming albums I've ever recorded, and I named it "Windseeker". A good friend of mine has been listening to the rough master CD every morning, after his Yoga session and as he begins his art work. He called to say that he too can feel the "space", the stillness and how it's now one of his most favourite CDs.
I became so inspired by the sound and feel of the music, that I started working on other tracks, adding other instruments. First was acoustic guitar, then twelve string guitar.....then some gentle congas, shakers.....before I knew it I had produced several rather rthymical pieces. The flute stayed as the lead instrument, but these tracks had a great, easy going beat to them.
