The chill of winter and the warmth of John Huling's music intermix on WINTER SOLSTICE, an album of gorgeous compositions themed after the stark beauty of winter in the Southwest. The songs bear a haunting elegance, where the harmonious tones of the Native American flute offer a sublime focal point. Low-key beats and percussive instruments join in to add to the earthy elements of the recording; in particular, the hollow, metallic clang of the Hang Drum and the twinkling tones of the Cristal Baschet add an exotic component to several of the tracks.

In the backdrop, the sounds of nature add ambiance, from brisk winds to chirping crickets to bird cries. This is an album that captures the many moods of winter; listening, you'll find yourself comforted and moved by the blend of Native-themed melodies.
