Zen Tails

Zen Tails® is a ground-breaking collection of children’s picture books based on stories drawn from great philosophical traditions. Each book is beautifully illustrated and contains the original ancient story as well as a moral. The books address fundamental questions which must be faced by each of us as we move through life. These questions are simple enough to be understood by young children, yet profound enough to warrant a lifetime of study, reflection and practice.

Give children a great foundation with stories that will be with them for the duration of life's journey.
Overview of Zen Tails: Primary Values Program.
Zen Tails® Primary Values program for Children 8-10yrs addresses fundamental questions which must be faced by each of us as we move through life. These questions are simple enough to be understood by young children, yet profound enough to warrant a lifetime of study, reflection and practice.
The Zen Tails® Primary Values program is based on the ground-breaking Zen Tails® children’s picture books. Each Zen Tail® book is beautifully illustrated and contains the original ancient story as well as a moral.
By working through the Zen Tails® Primary Values program, students will develop and refine skills which will enrich their lives and aid them in other areas of study.
These skills include:
* Recalling a plot
* Examining character traits
* Interpreting stories and incidents within stories
* Relating these stories to their own experience
* Testing assertions in the light of experience
* Listening to others and understanding their points of view
* Modifying their own point of view in light of shared discussion
* Defending and arguing in support of an interpretation
* Responding to and assessing others’ arguments

The Characters
Zen Tails® divides the world into three.
The Enlightened Masters or Teachers represent the absolute best in human qualities. The Students who following the guidance of their teachers, sometimes get a little lost. Finally The Fools, who have turned their back on the great teachings and consequently suffer the effects of negative feelings and emotions.
Each category is further divided into three so the Masters are represented by the threefold paths of Knowledge, Love and Action. These are personified by Shri Shelly the Tortoise, Guru Walter Wombat and Saint Bernard.
The Students have qualities of studiousness - Gilber B. Beaver, compassion - Pierre Potamas and fearlessness - Bruno Beagle.
Finally The Fools representing negative qualities and emotions are portrayed by Grizzel Bear - Anger, Monkey - Agitation and Fur Ball the cat representing sloth and greed.
The Books are beautifully designed with wonderful artwork and sturdy hardback covers with quality paper perfect for young hands.
