John Stuart Mill (20 May 1806- 8 May 1873) John Stuart Mill, a prominent propagator of utilitarianism, philosopher, classical liberal thinker, political economist, and an MP of British parliament, was born in an influential British family on 20 May, 1806. His father James Mill was a renowned philosopher and thinker of his time, and a historian and economist. Mill was educated in his home by his father who was assisted and advised by another Utilitarian philosopher Jeremy Bentham. He was restricted within his family and not allowed to make acquaintances or friends to other children of his age except his own siblings. His earlier education started when he was only 3 when he learned Greek. Later on (until he was 8) he was taught physics, mathematics, and history. He has read Herodotus, six dialogues of plato, Isocrates, Aesop's Fables, Anabasis in Greek. His father's vision and commitment to make John a globally acclaimed utilitarian philosopher and heir to the utilitarian philosophy after him and Jeremy Bentham lead him to claim a great place in Utilitarian philosophy.
