BREATHING FOR YOUR BACK was designed to help you relieve pain and lessen stiffness due to bad posture or stress and tension. Author and Hatha Yoga teacher Susan Ni Rahilly offers a series of practices that can be utilized to put a stop to pain and pressure. She begins by teaching the "Yoga Complete Breath," a basic exercise in Pranayama that acts as a backbone for the rest of the recording. Next she walks the listener through three different exercises that use stretching to tame back pain - "Supported Forward Bend," "Supported Pose of a Child" and "Kneeling Passive Head Roll," each designed to lengthen and strengthen your back. The session ends with a twelve-minute relaxation session, allowing you to revel in the bliss that comes from a yoga workout, while freeing your frame from tension.
Breathing for your Back will help you exercise breathing techniques on your bed, on a chair, or on a blanket or yoga mat on the floor. Yoga breathing (Pranayama) can also strengthen your muscle tone, especially in the lower stomach, which helps to strengthen the lower back, support the spine, and improve your posture.
