Release Date: 10 January 2010
Moody, atmospheric acoustic tunes influenced by Mexican and Native American cultures are the domain of Mirabai. Produced by Thomas Barquee, FLORES features an exquisite assortment of tunes that interweave the sultry vocals of both Markus and Angelika with guitar, flute, cello and keyboard ambience. The music is very relaxed with mild Latin influences; as a matter of fact you might describe the music as having a bit of a Brazilian folk sound. If you're familiar with the trio Tribalistas, Mirabai sounds a little like them, especially with the yin and yang of Markus' gutteral singing and Angelika's sweet, earthy vocals. Of note is "Hon Hon Hon," which has a Native American flair.
Featuring stirring songs on love and life from the Mexican Hispanic and Native Indian cultures, this is yoga music, world music, meditation music, reflective music, and deeply moving music. Mirabai Ceiba’s first album is a beautiful interplay of rich vocals, reflective poetry, celestial harp, and gentle nylon-string guitar.
Angelika Baumbach: vocals, harp/Markus Sieber: vocals guitar/ Thomas Barquee: keyboard, bass, orchestration/Girish Gambhira : percussion/Dominic Breaux: woodwinds/Cameron Stone : cello
