IMMORTAL EGYPT is a deeper exploration of Egyptian dance fused with Western contemporary themes that ran through Phil Thornton's previous albums. Along with Hossam Ramzy, Egypt's master percussionist, the pair introduce you to the emerald minarets, lost cities, swirling sands and ancient mysteries of this more than legendary land. Also contributing to the exotic sounds are the rebaba (an Egyptian two-string violin), the aud (a fretless lute), the kawala (a bamboo flute used for religious music), a quarter tone accordion, didgeridoo and violin. Recorded in Cairo, this is a great album that is both seductive and musically adventurous.

Following the glowing success of Eternal Eygpt, the first collaboration between Phil Thornton and Hossam Ramzy, a new light of creativity has guided the two of them to work together again in a startling and innovative format. With pieces added by top soloists and session musicians in Cairo, and re-arranged and overlaid by Phil and Hossam back in the UK, the outcome is a magnificent album of high quality performances from the heart of Immortal Egypt.
