Kitaro continues his sacred pilgrimage to the 88 temples of Shikoku with the fourth album in his "Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai" series. The virtuoso composer and synthesizer innovator fills the pieces of this album with a reverent peacefulness, pairing Asian influences with his emotive synth tones, that at times float by like petals on the water and at others dramatic swoop like a bird in flight. Like the other entries in the series, the music is less dramatic than the material of Kitaro's proper albums, focusing on meditative, tranquil melodies. Violinist Steve Kindler joins Kitaro, adding his sublime to the mix, which gives the music an added dose of symphonic splendor, alongside Paul Pesco on guitar, Keiko Takahashi and Diana Dentino on keyboards and Voyce McGinley on percussion.

Reviews of SACRED JOURNEY OF KU-KAI V4 :
“Kitaro’s style is the epitome of the contemplative, highly melodic synthesizer music.” — VH1.com
“Kitaro sculpts a music that balances between pastoral and deep space environments, desert flute melodies and arcing synthesizer solos. Sacred Journey of Ku-kai retains the classic Kitaro sound of the 1980s but is played now with a renewed spirit.” — John Diliberto, Billboard
