Mirabai Ceiba is the duo of guitarist / singer Markus Sieber and singer / harpist / keyboardist Angelika Baumbach. Markus is east German, Angelika was born in Tucson, AZ and grew up in a small village near Mexico City... they met in Scotland. The name Mirabai Ceiba embodies the influences of both India and Native Latin America. Together their newest release is carried in on the delicate wings of a hummingbird. This album, SEVATI, which means both silence and white rose in Sanskrit, is an album that explores the celebration of life in the experience of death. This celebration is beautifully presented in Sanskrit mantras, Spanish and English songs, and ancient Native chants. The delicate sounds of guitar, piano, harp, percussion, cello and more blend with lovingly intertwined voices amid lush celestial soundscapes on tracks such as "Waheguru Wahejio," "Gobinda Hari," and the lovely traditional song from the Algonquin Indians "Song of the Stars."
With this album, you feel the joy and sorrow of this life in all its stages. Listening to it, you experience yourself and your heart born again into the silence and wholeness of Sevati.
