Very good indeed But the unity is the unmanageable element in the new amalgamation of our savans. Whilst we would have priestcraft to stand out in its now naked deformity, and have strong objections to any order of Priesthood invested with authority to perform sacred functions, we cannot imagine the Church of the Future without a carefully trained ministry, still the spiritual adviser of the wavering, and the moral teacher and exponent of the Gospel. However much we admire the undoubted genius of the unfortunate Shelley, and can trace in his splendid poems his ideal of a Future Church, we still lean to a thoroughly well- educated ministry to preside over the spiritual empire of the earth, notwithstanding his glowing denunciation of " the pale name of Priest" -- "Oh, tkat the wise from their bright minds would kindle Such lamps, within the dome of this dim world, That the pale name of Priest might shrink and dwindle Into the hell, from which it first was hurled, A scoff of impious pride from fiends impure; Till human thoughts might kneel alone, Each before the judgment throne, Of its own aweless soul, or, of the Power unknown.1' Man will worship.
